Quick Answer

Useful combinations
- An account’s posts in a date range: from:nasa since:2024-01-01 until:2024-02-01
- Popular original posts about a topic: "product hunt" min_faves:100 -filter:replies lang:en
- Replies people send to a brand: to:yourbrand filter:replies
- Who links to your website: url:yourdomain.com -from:yourbrand
- Viral videos from the past week: filter:native_video min_faves:1000 within_time:7d
Limits to know
- X requires you to be logged in to see search results.
- Some operators only cover recent posts; for example, the native-repost filters work for roughly the last 7–10 days.
- Language detection is automatic and sometimes wrong, so lang: can miss posts.
- Hyphens or spaces inside an operator value break the query; wrap phrases in quotes where the operator allows it.
Run the same searches through an API
TwexAPI’s advanced search endpoint (POST /twitter/advanced_search/page) takes your query terms in searchTerms, a sortBy of Latest or Top, and a cursor for the next page. Each page returns up to 20 posts, at about $0.05 per 1,000 posts, and does not need an X account.
FAQ
How do I search old tweets by date?
Combine since: and until: with a keyword or account, for example from:nasa since:2020-01-01 until:2020-02-01. until: excludes its own date. The free TwexAPI search-by-date tool builds the same query for you.
Can I use Twitter advanced search without an account?
Not on x.com, which requires you to log in before showing search results. The TwexAPI search-by-date tool and the advanced search API return public posts without an X account.
Why does advanced search miss some posts?
Some operators only cover recent posts, language detection is not perfect, and location operators only match posts that carry location data. Try the Latest tab and loosen one filter at a time.
